Without the support of our amazing volunteers, Hightower PTA could not provide all of these events and programs!  Our PTA Board and Chair's champion the following roles and duties that make all the magic happen for our students. We are incredibly grateful for the moms and dads that give their time and talent!
 
PTA Chair positions and a brief description of the duties!
 
5th Grade Celebration Committee
Send off our Hightower 5th Graders in style! Help plan and carry out activities for the 5th Grade Celebration. Event is held annually in late May, 6:30pm at Hightower.

Arts in Education/Reflections
Reflections is a national PTA-sponsored arts program that allows students to create works of art in Visual Arts, Photography, Music, Dance Choreography, Literature, or Film Production in relation to the annual theme and be recognized for their effort. You can help collect and organize these entries on the Reflections entry deadline, as well as assist with giving awards to all participants during a day or evening ceremony. Awards Ceremony is annually in December.

Bike Rodeo
Set up and assist students with learning bike safety during our annual Hightower Bicycle Rodeo. Help monitor stations as the children ride outside around the school. Morning, afternoon, and all-day shifts are needed. Event is held annually in October.

Book Fair
Lead and coordinate the ever popular, annual Book Fair! Duties include helping students select books, setting up/breaking down the event, working with Scholastic Books, leading promotions of the event and working with the VP4 to coordinate volunteers for the week. Event is held annually in late September.

Class Parties Chair
Help plan, organize, and run Hightower's 3 class parties. Your kids will love it! Party dates vary each year. (Winter party is in December | Friendship/Valentine's party is in February| End-of-year party is in May

Class Party LEAD per Grade Level
Coordinate grade level parent meetings to organize parties and special events. The Class Party Lead manages the grade level budget and ensures that parties comply with school and PISD guidelines. Each grade needs at least one Class Party Lead.

Community Outreach Committee
Help collect items for the annual Hygiene Kit Drive and Peanut Butter Drive programs. The North Texas Food Bank will run in conjunction with the Peanut Butter Drive throughout September. The Hygiene Kit Drive will run throughout February.

Cultural Diversity
What a great opportunity to represent a country and teach students about different places in our world! Lead the planning and running a fun and educational event with cultural awareness activities for all Hightower students. Event is annully and typically held in November during the school day. 

Family Picnic
Assist with the setup and execution of the annual Hightower Fall Family Picnic at Arrowhead Park. Picnic is an annual event held in September at 5:30pm.

Field Day
One of the students' favorite days of the school year! Set up and assist with stations as the students enjoy a fun day of outdoor activities. We will have morning, afternoon, and all-day shifts available. Event is annual and held in April

Hospitality - Teacher Appreciation Week
Help us go ALL OUT to show our teachers how much we appreciate all they do! Work with the Chair to choose themes, collect food items and gift cards, and help with setup and cleanup during the week. We love to spoil our teachers and staff! Teacher Appreciation Week is an annual event held each May. 

Hospitality - Luncheons
Assist in hosting 2 fun luncheons for our Hightower teachers and staff! Our Back-To-School Luncheon is held before the school year begins (August). Our Holiday Luncheon is held in December. 

Hospitality - Celebrations
We love to celebrate teacher and staff birthdays at Hightower! Help with birthday cards and goodies each month. PTA also provides STAAR survival bags to each teacher with plenty of goodies to get them through testing week in May. We'd love your help putting the STAAR survival bags together! 

Library Volunteer
Volunteering in the Hightower Library is the best way to be involved with students! Work directly with students by assisting the Hightower Librarian with lending and shelving books. This is a fun way to see your student during the school day while assisting the Librarian with much needed help. We offer flexible scheduling in 1-2 hour shifts throughout each school day.

Red Ribbon Week
Help plan and decorate the school for the annual Red Ribbon drug prevention campaign. Red Ribbon Week is every October.

School Store
Students love shopping at the Hightower School Store! Help by selling pencils, locker buddies, and other school items one morning a month. Great for working parents--you can volunteer before work! School Store is open on Wednesday's starting in late August.

Spring Family Event
Work a brief shift at our evening Spring Family Event that will include plenty of family-friendly events. Event date is flexible, typically in the Spring/April.

STEAM Event
Assist the students throughout the day with unique, fun and creative science, technology, or art experiences! No experience needed. Event is each March. 

Silent Auction
Lead and manage the event, form a subcommittee to help solicit donation items and help execute the silent auction. Date TBD

Veterans Day Program
Help us honor those who have fought for our freedom during a special Hightower school assembly. Assist with greeting veterans, helping them to their seats, and doing anything else needed to keep this event running smoothly. Event will be held on Veteran's day. 
 

Workroom LEAD
Coordinate grade level projects and other special events between the teachers and the volunteers. Each grade level needs one Workroom Lead.

Yearbook
Help preserve Hightower history! We are looking for volunteers from each grade level to take photos at class parties and field trips. Also, we need people to help with the layout of grade level pages and yearbook distribution in the Spring.
